The World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations (UN), in the voice of its Executive Director, David Beasley, ratified the commitment to strengthening a joint work agenda with the Venezuelan Government, led by the President, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
After the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Venezuela and the WFP for the provision of assistance, from the Sol del Peru Room of the Miraflores Palace, David Beasley highlighted that to date “a lot of hard work has been carried out, but what It is clear, is that our commitment is to respond to the needs”.
“We all agree that we must work together for the children and the people of Venezuela, we hope not only for this firm but to start working soon. We have a lot of work ahead”, said the WFP Executive Director.

The senior UN official acknowledged that the current situation caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) “has wreaked havoc on millions of the world’s inhabitants”, and it is in “times like these that the United Nations come together as brothers, sisters and friends, to do what we can do to help those most in need.”
Assistance to children in initial education
For his part, President Maduro thanked the Head of the United Nations World Food Program and his entire team. “I want to thank the effort that has been made, for this step that we are taking by signing this Memorandum to carry out support programs and food assistance to children in initial education, as a first step.”
The national leader congratulated the good work that has been done with the United Nations. “A great step has been taken, I believe that all of Venezuela applauds this step that we have taken by signing this first agreement between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the World Food Program.”
“It only remains me to ask the teams for maximum audacity in the execution of this plan and as Executive Director of the WFP (David Beasley) you can count on me to speak the truth, communicate permanently and open the doors to new initiatives and projects. The people of Venezuela thank you and your team”, said the dignitary.
“May God bless this beautiful arrangement and bring you success and happiness. Thank you very much, really, for coming”, said President Nicolás Maduro.
