The Vice-president of Communication, Culture and Tourism of Venezuela, Freddy Ñáñez, during his speech at the Meeting of High Authorities of the Communication and Information Area of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP ), urged on Monday the construction of a joint action agenda that involves alternative and popular media, “so that they are spaces for the defense and dismantling of fake news against our countries.”
19 years after the violent events that occurred on April 11, 12 and 13, 2002 in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Vice-president recalled the first media blockade in the country, after the coup d’état against Commander Hugo Chávez was consummated; and he insisted on establishing a shared communication policy to fight against large private corporations.
“I believe that it is necessary to resume concrete integration, the possibility that our alliance can have a shared communication policy that daily shows the differences between us and, at the same time, the similarities of our economic, social and political proposals.”, He highlighted.
In the company of the Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Daniela Rodríguez, the Venezuelan Vice-president specified that all the coups by imperialism are preceded by hate campaigns, stigmatization and manipulation of public opinion against democratic processe.
“This strategic meeting places on our shoulders the commitment to make visible, precisely, all the contradictions that the Western world has in its relationship with Latin America and the Caribbean. If we do not make ourselves visible to the world, we could never be an alternative”, he said.

On the other hand, he denounced the behavior of social networks and the temporary closure of the Facebook account of President Nicolás Maduro, after disseminating information about the retroviral Carvatirvir, prepared by Venezuelan scientists.
“It draws powerfully the attention that in the face of the situation in the world, a terrible pandemic, in which alternatives and solutions for health are urgently needed, the algorithms of social networks pursue all messages that have to do with solutions in terms of public health.”
